All the New Openings in Paris to visit this Season

It’s no secret Paris is one of our favourite cities for a weekend break, and a string of new openings means it’s never been more exciting. From luxury hotels to exciting restaurants, here are the new places to know – plus, a few of our favourite bars to bookmark… – here are the hotspots to visit this season.

HOTELS

Hôtel Dame Des Arts

The 360° views from Hôtel Dame Des Arts make it worth a visit – you can see the Eiffel Tower, Sacré-Coeur, the dome of Les Invalides and Notre Dame cathedral from the rooftop. It occupies a restored 1950s building in Saint-Germain, with local designer Raphael Navot behind the interiors: 109 rooms and suites have bespoke furniture and terraces with city views. Guests can dine at the restaurant and in the adjacent garden courtyard, as well as taking in the views at the rooftop bar.

Hotel Rochechouart

This art-deco hotel in Pigalle was originally The Charleston over a century ago – a glamorous spot to see and be seen in during the Roaring 20s. Orso Hotels group has brought it into the 21st century with a destination restaurant serving French classics, a late-night rooftop bar with beautiful city views, an oyster bar and a nightclub with a speakeasy vibe. Several of the building’s original features over its eight floors have been carefully restored, including a grand art-deco staircase and a glass elevator, while the 106 rooms are modern and elegant, with warm tones, plush furniture and vintage lighting – some even have views of Sacré-Coeur. On Thursdays to Saturdays, DJs and musicians set the tone by playing disco, funk and house music until the early hours.

Le Grand Mazarin

Maisons Pariente – the luxe hotel group behind Lou Pinet in Saint Tropez and The Coucou in Meribel – is set to open the doors of Le Grand Mazarin at the end of April. The hotel is in Le Marais in the 4th arrondissement, a lively district lined with private mansions and home to the famous Picasso Museum. Inside, there are 50 rooms and 11 suites with glamorous interiors by Martin Brudnizki – think rich colours, plush materials and OTT prints – as well as a fine-dining restaurant and bar. It’s also one of the few hotels in Paris with a swimming pool.

TOO Hotel

If you want excellent views without the crowds, put TOO Hotel at the top of your list. Having opened a few months ago, it’s already popular with tourists and locals who queue outside to get into its buzzy rooftop restaurant and bar. Opened by Laurent Taïeb (also behind the Madame Rêve hotel) and with interiors by Philippe Starck, the hotel occupies the top eight floors of one of the tallest buildings in Paris. Up there, you’ll find 139 rooms and suites – some with views of the Eiffel Tower – and a chic restaurant for lunch and dinner. Nearly every room in the hotel has spectacular views, but the very best are reserved for the TacTac Sky Bar where DJs play house and jazz in the evenings while waiters deliver pan-Asian sharing plates and cocktails. There’s also a spa and an outdoor jacuzzi.

RESTAURANTS & BARS

Mondaine de Pariso

Mondaine de Pariso is a new experience in the 8th arrondissement of Paris. Claiming to be free of rules and conventions, the venue is set up like an opulent private party straight out of the 70s. Created by Daphné Desjeux, the huge ‘apartment’ has been imagined as a luxurious Parisian bachelor pad. Spread out over two floors, the rooms – including the Smokeroom and the Library – unfold with different experiences laid on throughout the night. Menus feature indulgent ingredients such as caviar and lobster, and the cocktails are some of the best in the city.

Alfred

For French brasserie classics, head to Alfred, which has been getting a lot of attention on TikTok thanks to its simple food and interiors inspired by glamorous holiday homes in the south of France. Chef Alexia Duchêne – probably most famous for her time in the kitchen at Allard brasserie – has created a crowd-pleasing menu of bistro favourites like steak with pepper and whisky sauce, lobster salad with fennel, and chocolate and pistachio mousse.

Six Senses Supports Sustainability

“There’s no better design than nature, and we have a duty to respect it. But who says sustainable can’t be sumptuous? Or travel can’t be purposeful? In our world, it can.”

It takes immense dedication to build a respected brand ethos from scratch, whose reputation is simply synonymous with Sustainability’s zero waste philosophy. Since 1995, Six Senses has achieved their purposeful growth with grace, known for barefoot luxury whilst putting personal well-being and a healthy planet at the forefront.

From their architectural and design practices, to digging organic gardens to produce locally, launching Earth Lab dedicated to engagement and innovation and always letting the surrounding ecosystem take centre stage at every destination, Six Senses has perfected their hospitality experience in this arena. By ‘disconnecting to reconnect’ and enhancing your consciousness each step of the way, their harmonious vision is palpable from the moment you step foot into their world.

Social responsibility is needed more than ever, so why not arrive at thoughtful resorts that are ahead of the curve and set a wonderful model from which future generations can learn from. Be inspired by these unique Sustainability Stories at their gorgeous hideaways, and witness them for yourself during your next escape…

At Six Senses Douro Valley, protection around a 10-acre woodland on their property takes precedence, highlighting their sustainability clause and protecting old growth trees. The last Miranda donkeys are being saved from extinction here near the Spanish border, cared for by a group of veterinarians.

Over in the Maldives at Six Senses Laamu, they encourage guests to grow their own microgreens, packed with essential vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Here, you can also choose to adopt a wild sea turtle, join a Junior Marine Biology program, and learn more about protecting seagrass as a valuable ecosystem to fight climate change.

While at Six Senses Zighy Bay, they involve guests in tree planting, source their fish from local markets, ensure that 80% of their waste is recycled on site and produce their own bottled water by reverse osmosis.

When it comes to coral restoration, Six Senses Fiji and Six Senses Zil Payson in Seychelles (just to name a few!) have all worked hard to rebuild underwater environments through Coral transplantation, resulting in thriving coral gardens.

Wildlife regeneration is a key factor of sustainable tourism, and in Vietnam at Six Senses Ninh Van Bay, they have cooperated with GreenViet Conservation Centre to collect information about black-shanked douc langurs who live just beyond the hills of their resort. By protecting and tracking them in their natural habitat, guests naturally fund their important work by simply choosing to stay here.

Finally, having cut out plastic straws since 2016, and eliminating over 5.1 million items in 2018, as part of their Global Tourism Plastics initiative pledge the entire brand will be completely plastic free by 2022. Now that’s something to celebrate!

Discover endless new cruise horizons in 2022/23

It’s no secret that the Regent Seven Seas Cruises fleet includes some of the most luxurious ships in the world. And they’re ready to make waves for the 2022/23 cruise season.

Docking in Kotka, you would be forgiven for thinking you had arrived in Russia. The town is, after all, only around 100 kilometres across the water from St. Petersburg, and its dramatic Lutheran cathedral is not dissimilar to colourful St Basil’s, holding court in Moscow’s Red Square.

You alight the ship to be greeted by your guide, ready to escort you around for a day of sightseeing. Perhaps to take in the Merikeskus Vellamo, a museum detailing the region’s seafaring history, housed in a dramatic steel-and-glass building. Or to glimpse the stunning fjords that envelop the town with natural drama. Welcome to Finland, and to one of Regent Seven Seas’ newest ports.

This culture-driven town in the country’s south, overlooking the Gulf of Finland, is one of 17 destinations set to debut on Regent Seven Seas’ cruise voyages for 2022/23. And it’s in good company, alongside the likes of Killybegs in Ireland, Monterey in California, Beppu in Japan and Gili Mas (Lombok) in Indonesia. The hardest decision you have to make is which itinerary to choose – there are 148 available across the season, in addition to five Grand Voyages of 61 days or more. Perhaps an easier place to start is with the ship.

A splendid way to travel

It’s hard to look past the newest ship in the Regent fleet: the lavish Seven Seas Splendor. With space for just 750 guests, Splendor made her maiden voyage earlier this year, setting the bar high for future cruise-line launches. The extent of the on-board luxuries is mindboggling: all-balcony suites, guaranteeing unbroken views over the ocean and colourful villages you pass; walk-in wardrobes and marbled bathrooms; indulgent L’Occitane amenities. Venture into public spaces to ogle a collection of more than 300 commissioned artworks, decorating spaces that unite sweeping staircases, Czech marble and chandeliers.

The other standout luxury is the all-inclusive nature of your voyage, from meals and drinks in the seven specialty restaurants and bars to pre-paid gratuities, Wi-Fi, valet laundry and even unlimited shore excursions. Which means you can sashay off the ship in Kotka, or any number of ports, and be met that chauffer to explore some of the world’s most beguiling destinations.

Book Splendor’s ‘Charming Windmills to Fine Chocolates’ itinerary (departing 26 July 2022), and your cruise will be bookended by stays in St. Petersburg, with northern Europe’s fairytale countryside, Norway’s stunning coastline and historic Baltic cities in between. When winter descends, the ship – dubbed ‘luxury perfected’ – cruises south toward the Caribbean, taking in the region’s palm-laced islands and powdery beaches at a leisurely pace, perhaps before journeying along the Panama Canal.

An incentive to explore

Seven Seas Explorer will also begin her season in the Mediterranean, taking in blissful Greek islands, colourful Turkish ports, the Baltic Sea and the Holy Land. From here, she heads south toward Dubai and the Gulf Coast, preparing to journey toward Asia for the ‘Ancient Temples & Sacred Sites’ itinerary (departing 14 March 2022). Seeing Japan during sakura (cherry blossom season) is a rare treat, with the ship making a maiden call in Beppu and also stopping in Kyoto with some itineraries with overnight stays allowing for more immersive exploration.

If time is on your side, the 73-night ‘Grand Spice Route Quest’ (departing 31 October 2022) offers an intoxicating taste of Europe, Asia and Oceania, visiting Jerusalem and Luxor, lingering in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, then journeying south to explore the waters between Australia and New Zealand – she arrives in Sydney just in time for New Year’s Eve, which means you can end your journey with a bang.

This grande dame will begin the 2022/23 season in Miami, before exploring the Caribbean then sailing north around the Canadian coast into Greenland, the British Isles and Western Europe. Moving back to the US, she journeys south to take guests on a 25-night Amazon cruise.

Voyager of a lifetime

Seven Seas Voyager will similarly spend some of the 2022/23 season in Europe, cruising the Mediterranean before journeying toward Splendor in Northern Europe. In addition to unexpected stops around the British Isles – think five calls to Ireland, plus Portland, Liverpool, England and Wales – the ship’s star itinerary is the ‘Historic Sites & Crossroads’ (departing 12 October 2022), taking you on a voyage through Europe’s historic civilisations, visiting significant sights and attractions in Greece, Italy and Turkey.

For the remainder of the 2022 season, Voyager will take guests to unexplored ports around Africa, including along the west coast, before journeying to Rio de Janeiro to begin her South American itineraries.
