Desert Rock: A Masterpiece of Luxury in the Heart of Saudi Arabia

At the intersection of architectural ingenuity and untouched natural beauty lies Desert Rock—a truly singular resort nestled deep within the rugged grandeur of Saudi Arabia’s mountain landscapes. Designed for the elite traveller in search of exclusivity, serenity, and cultural depth, this exceptional destination redefines what it means to escape.

Where Architecture Meets the Earth

Desert Rock is not merely built on the land—it is carved into it. Each villa and suite has been sculpted directly into the rocky terrain, creating a rare architectural harmony with the surrounding desert and cliffs. The resort feels as though it belongs entirely to the landscape, a discreet and dignified presence within one of the world’s most awe-inspiring natural settings.

Whether perched on a cliff edge or nestled within a valley crevice, every residence is positioned to offer panoramic views and complete privacy. With interiors that echo the raw materials of the environment—stone, timber, and earth-toned finishes—guests experience luxury that is deeply rooted in place.

An Intimate Retreat with Impeccable Service

Privacy is not a luxury here; it is a promise. Each accommodation includes a private swimming pool and a dedicated Villa Host to cater to every bespoke requirement. From tailored dining to curated excursions, the service is intuitive, discreet, and deeply personal.

This is not hospitality as usual. It is an elevated, immersive experience designed for those who appreciate the quiet grandeur of nature and the precision of exceptional service.

Beyond the Villa: Experiences That Awaken the Senses

Desert Rock offers more than scenic splendour. Guests are invited to explore the landscape through guided walks, wellness rituals, and culturally inspired activities. Adventure blends seamlessly with stillness—whether you are stargazing under pristine skies or unwinding with a treatment inspired by ancient desert traditions.

This is a place where the tempo slows, and every moment feels intentional.

A New Paradigm in Sustainable Luxury

From conception to construction, Desert Rock embraces sustainability not as a feature but as a foundational principle. Designed to preserve and enhance its natural surroundings, the resort employs innovative methods to reduce impact—such as water conservation, passive cooling, and the reuse of materials unearthed during construction.

Here, luxury does not stand in opposition to responsibility; rather, the two co-exist in quiet, elegant balance.

The Ultimate Destination for the Discerning Traveller

For our esteemed clients who seek more than opulence—for those who desire meaningful connection, immaculate design, and uninterrupted peace—Desert Rock presents an opportunity unlike any other.

This is a place where the desert speaks in silence, where luxury blends with the land, and where every stay becomes an unforgettable chapter in one’s personal journey.

The Finest Beaches in Europe (and Where to Stay While Visiting)

For the seasoned sunseeker, few pleasures compare to the languid luxury of basking on sun-drenched sands. However, what constitutes the perfect beach remains a matter of personal preference: fine sand or smooth pebbles, lively ambience or secluded peace, fully serviced or blissfully untouched.

To curate a refined selection of Europe’s most exceptional beaches, we consulted the prestigious World’s 50 Best Beaches list, shaped by the insights of over 1,000 seasoned travel professionals. From hidden Ibizan coves to the crystalline waters of Croatia, here are six European coastal gems to inspire your next escape — and the exquisite hotels to complement your stay.

Fteri Beach, Kefalonia, Greece

Ranked the second finest beach in the world, Fteri Beach lies ensconced within a secluded cove framed by the iconic white cliffs of the Ionian Islands. Accessible only via a strenuous cliffside descent (best attempted with a local guide) or by boat, this beach is a haven of unspoilt natural beauty. Expect a pristine pebble shoreline, translucent turquoise waters and absolute tranquillity — devoid of any modern facilities.

Where to stay: Eliamos Villas Hotel & Spa

Having reopened this summer season, Eliamos redefined luxury on Kefalonia upon its 2023 debut. Located on the island’s southern coast, the resort comprises 12 private villas, designed to accommodate both couples and families. Interiors exude understated elegance with bohemian accents and raw concrete textures, complemented by private saltwater pools or Jacuzzis. A proud Relais & Châteaux member, Eliamos offers wellness-led cuisine crafted by Chef Sokratis Malinganis, alongside yoga and reformer Pilates sessions with ocean views. Guests also enjoy complimentary e-bikes to explore the island at leisure.

Praia da Marinha, Algarve, Portugal

Ranked the second finest beach in the world, Fteri Beach lies ensconced within a secluded cove framed by the iconic white cliffs of the Ionian Islands. Accessible only via a strenuous cliffside descent (best attempted with a local guide) or by boat, this beach is a haven of unspoilt natural beauty. Cala Gracioneta, Ibiza, Spain

A jewel of Ibiza’s western coast, Cala Gracioneta embodies the island’s moniker as the White Isle — think powder-soft sands, crystalline coves and rustic-chic parasols. Sheltered from San Antonio’s famed nightlife, this serene beach offers a peaceful retreat with amenities including a beachfront restaurant and lavatories. Owing to its compact size, we recommend arriving early to enjoy the calm in solitude.

Where to stay: Oku Ibiza

Located near the vibrant heart of San Antonio yet offering a distinct sense of seclusion, Oku Ibiza is a masterclass in understated luxury. Its 189 rooms feature organic textures and minimalist design, providing a tranquil contrast to the island’s electric energy. Highlights include two destination restaurants (serving Mediterranean and Japanese-Nikkei cuisine), twin pools, a juice bar, and a rooftop yoga studio for sunrise meditation. This is Ibiza, reimagined for the discerning traveller.

Kynance Cove, Cornwall, United Kingdom

Renowned for its rugged rock formations, white sands and brilliant blue waters, Kynance Cove ranks 10th globally and is one of Britain’s most iconic beaches. A favourite of Queen Victoria, Prince Albert, and poet Alfred Tennyson, it’s a historic and scenic marvel. Nestled along the South West Coast Path, it’s the perfect stop before reaching the UK’s most southerly point. Don’t forget to enjoy a traditional Cornish ice cream along the way.

Where to stay: A Book of Love

This charming upside-down home is set amidst 20 acres of tranquil Cornish countryside. Just a short drive from the Lizard Peninsula, it offers easy access to Kynance Cove and other picturesque beaches, including Kennack Sands and Mullion Cove. The residence features three bedrooms and two bathrooms adorned with antique furnishings, a cosy kitchen with an Aga, and generous outdoor space. Guests are welcomed with a complimentary homemade fish pie, setting the tone for a warm and memorable stay.

Zlatni Rat, Brač Island, Croatia

Known as the ‘Golden Horn’, Zlatni Rat ranks 32nd in the world and is among Croatia’s most photographed beaches. Viewed from above, its narrow, horn-like spit evokes images of the Maldives or Seychelles. A haven for windsurfing enthusiasts, Zlatni Rat sits just one mile from the quaint harbour town of Bol. Its ever-changing shape is influenced by local currents and winds, so swimmers should exercise caution.

Where to stay: Tender Luxuries

Set on the island of Brač, this opulent six-bedroom villa accommodates up to 12 guests and boasts a private pool, sauna, hot tub and exceptional coastal access. For maritime adventures, a private speedboat is at guests’ full disposal. After a day on the water, enjoy alfresco dining on the terrace, courtesy of a fully equipped kitchen or private chef, then retire to the romantic, lantern-lit courtyard under the stars.

All the New Openings in Paris to visit this Season

It’s no secret Paris is one of our favourite cities for a weekend break, and a string of new openings means it’s never been more exciting. From luxury hotels to exciting restaurants, here are the new places to know – plus, a few of our favourite bars to bookmark… – here are the hotspots to visit this season.

HOTELS

Hôtel Dame Des Arts

The 360° views from Hôtel Dame Des Arts make it worth a visit – you can see the Eiffel Tower, Sacré-Coeur, the dome of Les Invalides and Notre Dame cathedral from the rooftop. It occupies a restored 1950s building in Saint-Germain, with local designer Raphael Navot behind the interiors: 109 rooms and suites have bespoke furniture and terraces with city views. Guests can dine at the restaurant and in the adjacent garden courtyard, as well as taking in the views at the rooftop bar.

Hotel Rochechouart

This art-deco hotel in Pigalle was originally The Charleston over a century ago – a glamorous spot to see and be seen in during the Roaring 20s. Orso Hotels group has brought it into the 21st century with a destination restaurant serving French classics, a late-night rooftop bar with beautiful city views, an oyster bar and a nightclub with a speakeasy vibe. Several of the building’s original features over its eight floors have been carefully restored, including a grand art-deco staircase and a glass elevator, while the 106 rooms are modern and elegant, with warm tones, plush furniture and vintage lighting – some even have views of Sacré-Coeur. On Thursdays to Saturdays, DJs and musicians set the tone by playing disco, funk and house music until the early hours.

Le Grand Mazarin

Maisons Pariente – the luxe hotel group behind Lou Pinet in Saint Tropez and The Coucou in Meribel – is set to open the doors of Le Grand Mazarin at the end of April. The hotel is in Le Marais in the 4th arrondissement, a lively district lined with private mansions and home to the famous Picasso Museum. Inside, there are 50 rooms and 11 suites with glamorous interiors by Martin Brudnizki – think rich colours, plush materials and OTT prints – as well as a fine-dining restaurant and bar. It’s also one of the few hotels in Paris with a swimming pool.

TOO Hotel

If you want excellent views without the crowds, put TOO Hotel at the top of your list. Having opened a few months ago, it’s already popular with tourists and locals who queue outside to get into its buzzy rooftop restaurant and bar. Opened by Laurent Taïeb (also behind the Madame Rêve hotel) and with interiors by Philippe Starck, the hotel occupies the top eight floors of one of the tallest buildings in Paris. Up there, you’ll find 139 rooms and suites – some with views of the Eiffel Tower – and a chic restaurant for lunch and dinner. Nearly every room in the hotel has spectacular views, but the very best are reserved for the TacTac Sky Bar where DJs play house and jazz in the evenings while waiters deliver pan-Asian sharing plates and cocktails. There’s also a spa and an outdoor jacuzzi.

RESTAURANTS & BARS

Mondaine de Pariso

Mondaine de Pariso is a new experience in the 8th arrondissement of Paris. Claiming to be free of rules and conventions, the venue is set up like an opulent private party straight out of the 70s. Created by Daphné Desjeux, the huge ‘apartment’ has been imagined as a luxurious Parisian bachelor pad. Spread out over two floors, the rooms – including the Smokeroom and the Library – unfold with different experiences laid on throughout the night. Menus feature indulgent ingredients such as caviar and lobster, and the cocktails are some of the best in the city.

Alfred

For French brasserie classics, head to Alfred, which has been getting a lot of attention on TikTok thanks to its simple food and interiors inspired by glamorous holiday homes in the south of France. Chef Alexia Duchêne – probably most famous for her time in the kitchen at Allard brasserie – has created a crowd-pleasing menu of bistro favourites like steak with pepper and whisky sauce, lobster salad with fennel, and chocolate and pistachio mousse.
